Everyday Mindfulness for Well-Being at Work
Mindfulness is the balanced awareness of whatever is happening at any given time for the purpose of cultivating clear, kind, skillful response, action and interaction. Training the mind towards focus, insight and balance supports the individual, enhances both interpersonal relationships affecting the overall culture of the work environment itself.
Developing and sustaining a satisfied and healthy staff leads to increased productivity, better customer service, greater staff and customer loyalty along with higher overall job satisfaction. Study after study shows that mindfulness leads to
- less stress
- less reactivity
- less depression
- less illness
Well-Being Works is a fully customizable program for developing mindfulness and well-being specifically for professional settings. The program is taught through a variety of interactive exercises and practices, along with discussions of the role of the brain, meditation, kindness and compassion, mindfulness in conversations, and how the mind’s capacity to focus its attention in the present moment decreases reactivity and increases curiosity, tolerance, resilience and skillful response.
Weekly sessions are an hour and a half spread over four to eight weeks, ideal for integrating practices and building skills from week to week. The program is also offered as a daylong workshop. By the end of the program participants will have:
- a fundamental understanding of the foundations of mindfulness, its applications and accessibility
- specific tools and practices for well-being at work and outside of work
- an understanding of the practical and significant implications of intentionally cultivating kindness and compassion
- the tools to begin an on-going meditation practice, if desired
- the resources and support for practice in the community
- a suggested reading list for further support

We were lucky enough, at Baroni, to participate in Heidi’s pilot Well-Being Works course. We have a staff of fourteen people with varying degrees of experience and interest in mindfulness. Heidi’s command of the material and her unassuming and open approach made it accessible and interesting for all involved. The response to the weekly classes was overwhelmingly positive.
